Data License — CC BY 4.0
License terms governing every public CSV download, JSON API response, and chart embed shipped from aicompanionpicker.com.
In plain English
You can copy, redistribute, and build on this data for any purpose — including commercial use — as long as you credit the source. The full legal text is below; this section is the “quick read.”
- ✓Commercial use is fine. Use the data in paid products, sponsored newsletters, or revenue-generating sites.
- ✓Modification is fine. Aggregate, recompute, transform, combine with other data.
- ✓Redistribution is fine. Re-publish CSVs or API responses on your own site.
Required Attribution
The license requires attribution wherever the data appears. To stay compliant include all three:
- 1.Dofollow link to
aicompanionpicker.com. Norel="nofollow"; no iframe-isolated rendering. The link must pass standard SEO authority. - 2.Methodology version cited. Currently
v1.0. Lock to a specific revision so readers can verify against the methodology that produced the data. - 3.Dated reference. Either “data as of [YYYY-MM-DD]” matching the
_data_updated_atfield, OR cite the dated snapshot URL when referencing a specific month.
Every CSV header carries a pre-formatted attribution string. Every API response carries an _attribution_text field. Copy verbatim to stay compliant.
Examples
Acceptable
- News article cites a specific number with a dofollow link to
aicompanionpicker.comand references methodology v1.0. - Research paper imports a CSV, retains the comment-prefixed header rows, cites the dated snapshot URL.
- Dashboard tool fetches the JSON API, displays attribution alongside each chart, links back dofollow.
- Newsletter quotes a finding with caption attribution “Source: AI Companion Picker, May 2026 (methodology v1.0).”
- Aggregator combines multiple sources, includes us in the source list with a working dofollow link.
Not allowed
- Rendering data with attribution stripped or hidden by CSS.
- Adding
rel="nofollow"to the attribution link. - Wrapping attribution in an iframe so the link doesn’t pass authority.
- Claiming the data as your own (failing to credit AI Companion Picker).
- Modifying header rows in CSVs to remove license / methodology metadata.
- Republishing CSVs under a different (incompatible) license.
